The Loft Newsroom

01/02/2006 The Loft is now up and fully functional again!   The move took a while longer than I expected as all the website controls were written in German.    But I've had it all fixed now and the site seems to be going well again.
28/01/2006 It's my birthday but I am working.   My web host has suddenly closed down and given me 1 week to move elsewhere.  So I have been busy finding a new home for the Loft.  I am now being hosted in Frankfurt Germany, a place where I'm guaranteed..  anything is allowed.
17/12/2005 With Christmas approaching I'm in a last minute rush to get presents for my family.    I hardly ever buy presents for people anymore but my family is different.  They still buy for me each year.  So I have to run out to the shops with all the crowds this weekend to pick up a few things for them.   I still don't know what I'm doing for Christmas.
6/12/2005 Finally back in Melbourne now after several trips away with work and my new job.   I'm hoping I can stay home now till at least after Christmas.   I have a few projects cooking at the moment.  One is a possible new website and another is shopping for a new property in Melbourne.   Frank flew back to Melbourne with me to help me shop...  and give me loads of valuable opinions.
3/12/2005 The shoot of Aaron has now been edited and is up in the Private Room.   I'm also busy editing the movie we shot a couple of weeks ago.
17/11/2005 I've just finished editing the photos I took of Michael a couple of weeks ago in Wollongong.   You can see the whole shoot in the private Room.
16/11/2005 Joe from San Diego is staying with me for a week.  I met Joe a few years ago in California and we've remained friends.   It's been really cool having him here.  He leaves tomorrow to go to Turtle Cove in northern Queensland.
30/10/2005 I've just spent the last week and a half in my old home town of Wollongong in a hotel overlooking a great surf beach there.   I'm back in Melbourne again for a couple of days before I hed off on my next work assignment.  But while I've been home I've managed to edit the photoshoot with Mikele I did a couple of weeks ago in Sydney for the Private Room.
3/10/2005 I'm heading to Sydney again for a few days of training for my new job.   But I've had a busy weekend back in Melbourne getting caught up with friends and editing more video for the Private Room.   I now have more volunteers for the Private Room than I can possibly handle.   Stay tuned for more updates.

30/9/2005 The last 2 weeks I spent in Sydney working in my company's head quarters in North Ryde.   It was nice learning new stuff, hanging out with my new team and living in a great hotel.   But it's nice to come home too.    I have to go back for another week to finish up a few things.   Then I will be working from Melbourne again.
17/9/2005 I've just finished working on a new gallery for the Private Room.   I've also been busy editing some videos to post up in there shortly.
15/9/2005 I learnt today that I will be spending the next 3 weeks working in Sydney.  How cool is that?   Of course the Loft will be coming with me.
14/9/2005 I started back at work today.
7/9/2005 The Bill Marathon is finished and I'm finally caught up on the happenings at Sun Hill over the past 3 months.  I watched 21 episodes in 2 sittings.   It's interesting to watch so much in a compressed amount of time...  in fact I think it's better!  Thank you to Greg for taping them all for me.
30/8/2005 I've just finished editing the first set of Houseboy audition photos for the Private Room.  Check them out here.
30/8/2005 While the PC is being worked on I am working on new configurations for the Loft.   My work desk is slowly moving out into the middle of the Loft's living area as I add more furniture and seating to the arrangement.
30/8/2005 Since leaving the Loft for my overseas trip my PC has been plagued with problems.  Allegedly something went wrong when my flatmate Jake was vacuuming around the computer.  It has not been stable since then.   So this week the hard drive is being reformatted to work like new again.  Once the machine is up and working again I will be able to start editing videos from my new video camera.
30/8/2005 The highly successful Newsroom is re-introduced to the Loft.  The Newsroom details events which are occurring in and around the Loft.
22/10/2003 I have now got the site up and running again.  During the transition to the new host the site was only down for 48 hours...  I big improvement on the last time I moved it.  And the new host is working out quite well.   I'm now not paying an arm for excess bandwith usage.
25/09/2003 My current hosting plan is not large enough to cope with the amount of bandwith it's using up.   So during the next week the Loft will be moving once again.   This means the site will go missing for up to 2 days.   And then it may take another 3 days before all pages are loaded up again.   But when there is a larger plan in place I should be able to add much more content (again).   A transition site will be open during this process.

29/08/2003 My new PC has arrived.   I'm busy loading up the software and getting it ready for the weeknd radio broadcast.
22/08/2003 Scott from Sydney arrives for a weekend of fun and games in the Loft.
16/08/2003 The host of a number of other webcam sites, including Aussie sites XposedCam and ButtnakedCam closed down and left all the site owners out in the cold.  This was the host I was considering moving to just a week ago.
11/08/2003 The Loft finds a new home on a larger sever space.   I started looking for a large space when it looked like I was going to run out of room a few weeks ago.   The new plan is much more expensive but (supposedly) the support is better too.  I'm yet to see evidence of good support yet.   Unfortunately due to bad planning and operating in different time zones the site was down for 2 whole days.
2/08/2003 I have finally found a tag board for the front page of the Loft.   Hopefully this will be a quick way for friends of the Loft to leave messages.

1/07/2003 This Week in the Loft has been updated.   I'm starting to get better at weekly updates now.   Maybe I should scrap the Babe and Stud pages now that my time is taken up on the This Week and Private Room pages.
09/06/2003 A new Webcam Shots Gallery has been added.  This month has all the shots from my first Loft Radio shows.
03/06/2003 "This Week In The Loft" page added.   This page will contain anything that doesn't fit on the other.   It's a dumping page???
31/05/2003 Stud of the Week has been updated.   My sister was hassling me during the week to update the page.  Suggestions for Stud or Babe of the Week are welcome.
24/05/2003 Product of the Week has been updated.   New vacation photos are now published in the 2003 Vacation gallery.
I've now purchased new equipment for the Loft Radio broadcast.   can now have co-hosts over for the Monday show.
17/05/2003 The new Private Room section is now operating.   Oh boy did it take forever to put together.   Your comments on the new section are welcomed.   You can enter this section from the button on the left hand side of the front page.
15/05/2003 The very first broadcast of Loft Radio went to air last Monday night on   www.rgin.com.    I was extremely nervous when I took over the stream but quickly got comfortable with adjusting the settings, playing songs and talking.  It made it much easier having my mate Damian here to help me out.   I'm still working on a 2 microphone set up so I can regularly have co-hosts.  The show will now play each Monday at 4am (EST)  which is 6pm here in Melbourne and will go for 2 hours.  Listeners are encouraged to write in with their comments or requests before the show begins.
11/05/2003 I'm very excited!   The first Loft Radio broadcast will happen on Monday the 12th of May at 6pm (Melbourne time), 4am in New York, 1am in Los Angeles, and 9am in London  (all on Monday).   Just tune into  http://www.rgin.com   and click on the "Listen" button.   You may have to sign up for Live 365 to begin with.
The first program will be co-hosted by myself and my mate Damian live in the Loft.   Once you have tuned in you can also view my live webcam at that site and log into the chat room.   You can also request songs from the Playlist on the site.

09/05/2003 Oh boy!   Look at all the changes!   The front page has been updated so that all the links can be seen without having to scroll down the page.   I got this idea from looking at other guy's webcam sites.   There are some pretty slick sites out there.
On suggestions from Aaron (from Brisbane)  I have added Jessica Alba as Babe of the Week.
The Loft site is now advertised on a number of other sites that list webcams in order of the number of votes they receive...  so please vote for my site with them.
I've been approached by RGIN.com  to fill a radio broadcast slot with them.   Once I've tested my stream I'm hoping my radio programme will be up and running soon.   I'll keep you posted on that one.
I'm also looking at adding a adult section to the site after receiving many requests for more adult content on the site.  Obviously I haven't done this yet because the site is public and I wouldn't want to offend, family, friends or minors with inappropriate content.
Oh...  and I'm still on holidays   :)))))))    I don't return to work until the 20th of May.
07/05/2003 I'm playing with the frontpage of the Loft site today to try to get most options to appear in one screen without having to scroll to find links.   I got this idea from the intranet site I use at work.  It's so much easier than scrolling all over the place to find things.    Now...  let me get my glasses so I can read it...
06/05/2003 During my 2 weeks away I opened a new gallery with my vacation photos and a Product of the Week page.   This page was inspired by the Homecare catalogue delivered to Greg's house in Wollongong.   The products were wild and dangerous!  I couldn't help myself but to start a dedicated page to the crazy inventions being flogged door to door.
The other news I have today is that I've been asked by the Radio Gay International Network to host a radio show on their network.  I'm very excited about this because until now I haven't been motivated to get the radio program up and going.  I will be testing my broadcast in the next few days and hope to get a spot on the network very soon.
20/04/2003 I'm travelling from Melbourne to Wollongong on the XPT Country Link service.   I used to catch this train to Wagga Wagga years ago to visit my grand parents in the school holidays.  Without upgrading the tracks the NSW govrenment in the the early eighties was able to find a train that could still reach up to 183km per hour.   It cuts several hours of the train trip between Melbourne and Sydney.   I'll be in Wollongong for a week and the webcam will run from my friend's place there.
18/04/2003 I've finally added a gallery of all my friends.  I'm sure some of them will complain about the photos I have used of them.
The site is now 6 months old  !
17/04/2003 I started my vacation today.  I have a whole month off!    So far I plan to spend a week in Wollongong and then a week on the Gold Coast with my family.    I'm open to suggestion for the last 2 weeks.

08/04/2003 I've been surfing through some pretty cool websites.  I'm not very hot on web design but I am learning some great tricky stuff from other webcam sites.    Like the new Guest Map on the front page is pretty cool.   And the counter that tells you how many people are online is great too!   There's a few new additions coming over the next couple of weeks.    Keep checking back.

07/03/2003 A text box (without a name) has been added to the front page to communicate daily news and events.  I'm also working on a Links page to all my favourite odd websites.
01/03/2003 A new gallery of webcam photos has been added to the site.   What happened to summer??   The last shot in the new gallery brought me my first official complaint from one of my advertisers.   They asked me to remove the photo from the cam screen because of complaints they'd received from their viewers.

8/02/2003 Tonight I attempt to run the webcam while I sleep all night.   This took a while to set up because I needed a special USB repeater cable to get the cam down to my bedroom.

15/1/2003 After having some upload problems I've decided to compromise and change the cam refresh rate back to 45 seconds.
10/1/2003 Currently learning how to run a radio broadcast from the Loft via the internet.   Stayed tuned for more news.
5/1/2003 The kitchen is finally painted and my Loft Host page is finally live on the site.   There are still a few gaps in my Bio but it may take forever to put that beast to bed.
1/1/2003 New Year' Day.   Time for a few changes to the Loft.  I've finally updated the Stud and Babe of the Week pages.  
The webcam has been changed to refresh every 30 seconds.   This will be trialed over the next week for performance levels.
An "On the Streets of Melbourne" gallery has been added to collect my day to day digital photos taken around Melbourne.  I also bought a Wrist Camera during the week which takes small colour low quality photos.   A new gallery will be added for those shortly.
There are a lot of changes and additions planned for the Loft site.   I'm also open to suggestions for content on the site.

23/12/2002 Going to my family's house for Christmas today.   The Loftcam will be broadcasting intermittently from there.   If the technology works we may even broadcast Christmas day.  I am also working on new pages for the site while I'm away.  Have a great Christmas!
15/12/2002 A new webcam image page is added for December.
10/12/2002 I'm at home sick with a cold so I'm using the time to add second camera window to the front page.   I'm hoping this will resolve viewers problems where they cannot get an "auto-refreshing" camera image.

A Newsroom is added to keep track of events in the Loft and general changes happening to the site.   My boss would be so proud of me.

02/11/2002 The Loft Chatroom is launched.  The most viewer complaints I get now is that I'm never in the Chatroom when I appear to be sitting at my computer.    That's usually because I'm surfing the net or working on the site.
22/10/2002 MelbourneLoft.com  is born!    After admiring other webcam sites around the world I decided to learn how to build one myself.   With the help of the guys from AnfyHost, my brother and my mates from my work I finally got a one page site up and running.
