World Trip 2006 Has a year already past since my last round the world trip? It's that time of the year again. I've taken 5 weeks off from work to travel to the US, Finland, Germany and Thailand. The whole trip should take around 30 days to complete. Starting with Qantas at Melbourne Airport I will fly on 9 flights for 54 hours covering 26869 miles. The following is a log and photographic journal of my travels.
San Francisco 22nd Sep - Melbourne to Los Angeles Today I flew and flew, and then flew some more! The flight to LA seemed to be quite quick and there was a tonne of movies and TV shows to watch. So the time went quickly. It wasn't long before I was meeting my friend Bill at San Francisco airport. We checked in to our hotel in what the taxi driver described as "the worst part of town". But I knew that before of the price we paid. It's also close to Folsom Street where the fair will be on Sunday. So then we when walking around Union Square and had some lunch which made Bill sick. And then we caught a tram up to Castro. Ahhh.... and we did loads of shopping. Tomorrow we'll be tourists and go to Fisherman's Wharf and do all the things the tourists do. Very sleepy now. Will write more later. San Francisco 23rd Sep - Not much time to write this morning. We had an amazing day today. Started with brekky at Carl's Jr Burger on Market Street and then caught a tram down to Fisherman's wharf. Quick photo session down there, and then caught a cab to the Golden Gate Bridge. It looks amazing up close. Eventually we found our way back into the city as the fog rolled in and it started getting cold. Then we went shopping at a huge leather store for something to wear to the Folsom Street Fair. The place was packed. But more on that later. Then we had some strange going ons at our hotel before we went out to dinner at Dennys!!! What a great place. I went for the "Fit Fare" menu of course. And later we went to a bar. I'm gonna have to write more later. We slept in and need to get brekky before we head down to the fair this morning.
24th Sep - Folsom Street Fair day - What an amazingly sunny and warm
day it was for the fair. We slept in after a big Saturday
night out. After brekky we went back to the hotel to get ready
for the fair. The hotel was full of people also in town for
it. Someone told me that the 5 blocks of the fair attracts
half a million people each year... and I think they were right.
The outfits and the characters were amazing! People fly in
from all over the world for it. I even met a whole group of
Aussies there. But what I didn't expect was the large number of p0rn
studios who had stands there. Of course I had my photo taken
with most of them. Oh... and I got to meet Damon Dogg!!!
You could almost put me back onto a flight to Melbourne now...
I can't imagine my vacation will get any better than this. But
more about Folsom later on This Week in the Loft. I must
take a step back a describe our 'outfit shopping' at Mr S.
If you get to SF you HAVE TO check out Mr S. It's a
leather/fetish store south of Market. The place was
packed and popping! Guys (and girls) were overflowing
from the change rooms changing in and out of leather and rubber gear.
A naked guy was hanging from the ceiling having all sorts done to him,
guys were trying out the automatic sex machines, and people were parading
everywhere. I saw outfits that I had no idea existed.
I'll post some photos shortly. Eventually I decided to stick
with my leather pants and boots I had brought from home...
especially after the big shop at A&F the day before. Hmmm....
well maybe I did buy myself something little. 25th Sep - Flying - Flying day is always uninteresting. I started with Alaska Airlines from SF to LAX this morning. And I should say... it's not a great airline from what I can tell. Broken seats and an "erratic gauge" in the cockpit delayed our departure. And one thing I have noticed about the airports here now is that the lines to get through security is amazing. It took ages to get to my gate this morning. It's good that there is high security, but going to the airport is actually starting to become a scary experience with people yelling orders in a military fashion. Im so glad I don't have to fly domestic in the US often. Right now I'm on an American Airlines flight from LAX to JFK. I lose some hours so I will arrive there tonight. The whole day travelling.... sigh... I wish I had more time in San Francisco. CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS
The photos below were all taken at the Folsom Street Fair. The more adult rated shots will be posted in the Private Room shortly.
