Family Tripper

I’m in the middle of organising my family’s trip to Thailand next week. The small troupe of 4 people has now grown to 9. It seems that no one wants to miss out on this one after we all had such a fun time there last year. This year we are visiting the wild town of Pattaya followed by a few days in Bangkok, one of my top 5 cities in the world. There’s a strange serenity that I like in the big crazy city of Bangkok. It’s always a nice experience visiting there. Here’s are my mum and sisters squeezing in to the back of a taxi cab during last year’s visit.

The New Office

We’ve had a little makeover this weekend to improve the office space in the loft. The place had become really messy since we brought in all the furniture from the other apartment. So during the week the old blue couches were donated to one of the charity shops to make some more space. And on Saturday we went and bought some new chairs and desks. The new space looks great! Here’s a few pics.

Posting Comments

I’ve been away from posting here for a bit. Mostly because I’ve been busy with my work and Facebook seems to suck some of the creativity I was giving to MelbourneLoft. But since the Loft is 10 years old this year, I’ve decided to give it a kick once again. I returned to find a couple of things that surprised me. I hadn’t been receiving notifications for the comments on the posts. I I have approved a lot of the comments now. Well, the ones that weren’t spam. And I found the tagboard filling up with quite negative tags. I’ve worked out how to delete some of those. I like happy people. If you want to leave me a post in the tag board, please give yourself a name and be happy.
Here’s one more shot of Sam going on one of his walks.

Winter Sam

Can you spot Sam?
Sam is our pet python snake. I was letting him out quite often in the leaf up to the Palm Springs trip in April. But he doesn’t like coming out of his tank at all during this winter. My place is much colder than the previous apartment he lived in. In fact I think I’d love to live in his tank. It’s kept a nice warm 30 degrees all year round with it’s big heating lamps. So it must be quite a shocked to be pulled out in to the apartment which is almost half it’s normal temperature. And I had no idea hold cold snakes are until I held it. I’m sure Sam will be making appearances on the loft again as soon as it starts to warm up again.

Loft 1 Revisited

Can you remember this room? That’s right. It’s Loft 1. This was the first apartment I bought when I moved to Melbourne. I’ve owned it for 10 years this year. But I actually only lived in it for just over a year before moving to the larger Loft 2 around the corner. My friends Tyson and Nico now rent Loft 1 from me. Occasionally I like to go over and tell them to clean up the place like a good angry old landlord should be.

Catching Up

Okay… so here’s what you missed on Glee.
I know I’ve been a bit lazy on the old blog lately. But you see most of my friends are now getting their kicks from my posts on Facebook these days. Perhaps I should do something to integrate the two. It’s been so long since I posted here that the site moved servers and my password to load files to the site no longer works. So I’m praying this post will work.
My friend Chris moved back in. And since he doesn’t work he stays at home and cooks and cleans for me. How perfect is that! He’s a good cook too. Though he did bring a pet snake with him (Sam). You may have seen him in earlier posts. I’m still working my butt off doing long hours. I still believe that if I work hard I will get to retire earlier… or die…. whichever comes first.
And being the middle of winter right now, we are doing all sorts of daggy things to keep ourselves entertained… like the Sunday night movie night with the boys. I’ll explain more on that later.

Palm Springs Vacation

This was my 4th visit to Palm Springs. Chris and I had such a nice time there over Easter last year that we decided to go for a longer period of time. In fact, as I write this here in Melbourne, Chris is still there lying by the pool. Palm Springs is a great place to take a break and lie by the pool and the large number of resorts there. I particularly like the Mirage in the Warm Sands area. The staff and guests are all so friendly. And the place is nice and quiet. A perfect oasis in the desert.
I also like going up the mountains in Palm Springs. We were amazed to find ourselves in a snow storm, just a short drive from where we had been lying by the pool in the morning! I like Palm Springs a lot. I think I could easily relocate there. Here are just a few pics from our stay in the Californian desert.

New Housemate Sam

Okay, so the new housemate is a snake! When Chris moved back in again a few weeks ago he brought his new pet with him. Sam is a pet python. Apparently it is legal to keep snakes as pets here. I had no idea! So Chris then headed off overseas for 6 weeks… so I’m snake sitting. Today was the first day that I had the courage to let the snake right out of his box. And everything went well until it tried to slip under the mattress on Chris’ bed. I’ve never seen the thing move so quickly! It was on a big escape mission. Anyway, even though I’ve now handled the snake on my own, I still don’t really like them.

Loft Clean Up

While everyone is out I’m taking the opportunity to clean up the Loft. Since Chris moved in a couple of weeks ago I have ran out if space and started packing stuff around my bed. So it’s time to get ride of some more stuff again. I seem to have so much more space now.
